In November 2024, the safe children’s space of Derhachi hosted the performance “Ivasyk-Telesyk” («Івасик-Телесик» – ukr.) by the artists of the Kharkiv State Academic Puppet Theater named after V. A. Afanasyev. 25 children, who visited the puppet show for the first time, watched the fairy tale with delight, actively reacted to the vibrant scenes, and after the performance, looked at the puppets with interest. Currently, children in the spaces are getting acquainted with Ukrainian fairy tales, so they are especially interested in seeing the story of “Ivasyk-Telesyk” – a classic Ukrainian fairy tale, performed in the style of folk street theater, which tells about a little boy who was able to defeat the terrible Serpent.
Such events not only entertain children, but also help them maintain the important skill of dreaming and believing in a miracle and the victory of good over evil. And, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of folk tales, children get the opportunity to better understand and appreciate their native culture, which is important for the formation of their resilience and confidence.
For children of the front-line Kharkiv region, such events are an important stage of their social adaptation and psycho-emotional rehabilitation. Shared experiences, acquaintance with new heroes, the opportunity to laugh and dream help the little ones feel like children, filled with joy and curiosity.
