In 2023, when the project was just starting, it was a response to an urgent request. Back then, we were collecting a lot of nets in different places to help one unit hide a fuel truck from enemies’ eyes. It was then that we realized: there is a real critical need for creating means of camouflage.
We were able to hide the fuel truck. And our team began to study the types of weaving, the difference in fabrics and how to create the highest quality nets. In addition, we wanted not only to weave nets, but to create something more: a community where everyone would feel their connection to Victory and find like-minded people.
After two years of the project, we sum up and clearly see – we have succeeded. “Protective mesh” (or as we call it – Pletenka) has become a place of strength, friendship and unwavering work that saves lives every day.
Our joint efforts are measured by real results:
10000+ meters of fabric were used for camouflage.
More than 100 nets were woven and provided to the frontlines.
We helped 41 units save lives, hide equipment and their positions. By the way, one of our nets has been serving the guys for almost two years!
More than 150 people joined the weaving initiative.
Our space has had 1600+ visits over the past 2 years – that’s thousands of hours of collaboration.
“Protective mesh” has become more than just a project. It is a warm and cozy circle of like-minded people. Here, girls and boys find an opportunity to be useful and contribute to the defence. And also – “Pletenka” has really formed a community. They watch movies together, discuss the news, and listen to music. This is a place where you can talk, share experiences and get support. This is a community that helps to heal from anxiety, working towards a common goal.
Our doors are always open and a wide variety of helpers come to us:
The largest number of participants who wove at the same time reached over 20 people.
Youth councils, heads of Derhachi educational institutions joined in, and once we even wove nets outside, becoming part of the Family Urban Fest.
Our youngest weavers were preschoolers.
We are happy to see our volunteers together with their pets.
We welcome everyone who wants to work for Victory.
Each knot woven is an investment in preserving the lives of military personnel. We thank everyone who has devoted their time to the project over the past two years, shared their stories with us, and joined in creating camouflage nets. Because only when we are together can we truly support our defenders.
The photos below show the results of our work over the past two years and the atmosphere of the project’s birthday. We share them with pleasure and pride.
